    (ANI)

A British Muslim man, who worked at a British Airways call centre, has been charged with preparing an act of terrorism.

According to The Telegraph, Rajib Karim, 30, from Newcastle was charged with preparing an act of terrorism or assisting another person to commit an act of terrorism between the April 13 2006 and February 25 this year.

Other charges accused him of preparing acts of terrorism abroad, thought to be the Yemen, and sending money to others "knowing or having reasonable cause to suspect that it would or might be used for the purposes of terrorism."

Karim was held after counter-terrorism officers swooped on the call centre where he worked in Newcastle.

He was among 800 staff dealing with passenger bookings in one of BA's two UK-based call centres.

The arrest took place on February 25 as part of a joint operation between the North East Counter Terrorism Unit and the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command. (ANI)
